Identity: The Foundation of Cloud Security

Patrick Harding

Why do Enterprises have to spend so much time thinking about network security when the cloud is supposed to make everything easier? Customers of cloud computing services need to recognize that the security they control and care about must start with the application - and that the first fundamental tenet of application security is authenticating, authorizing and auditing user access.

Further, enterprises must start to think in terms of the cloud driving Internet scale distributed computing. As a result, standardized identity interfaces and a seamless user experience will only become more critical when dealing with 1000's of cloud applications, across multiple cloud vendors. The question then becomes, "Can we do this with today's identity protocols, API's and trust models?"

In this session we will consider the fact that as cloud computing continues to gain traction, Identity must become the foundation of an enterprises cloud security startegy and AAA becomes the new baseline for your cloud security model.
